Poster 2025

For a brief workshop with Ed Fella, I created a lecture poster for myself meant to exist thirty years in the future.

My goal was to create something that would cause the viewer to interact with the poster in distinct ways, like moving closer to read the details and looking at the composition from a lower perspective to read my name.
I wanted to create a kind of anti-attention grabbing poster to contrast with the ever increasing amount of colors and efficacies that we have at our fingertips, which I’m sure won’t stop growing in our future.

REDCAT Angel City Jazz Festival2024

A REDCAT poster for the Angel City Jazz Festival, I had the pleasure of designing for Wayne Horvitz & his jazz band.

I chose to implement some organic, drawn elements, such as writing the poster’s subtitle using a whiteboard marker and roughly drawing aspects of the poster on textured paper. The greatest challenge in creating this poster for me was translating this illustration to a screenprint-ready format, as the complex shading had to be minimized in order to see the illustration clearly. There is also the challenge of representing the abstract emotions of jazz music into a single representation coming out of the piano. It took multiple variations to create something that could express that adequately.

Scott Benzel CalArts Lecture2024

A poster designed for CalArts Faculty Scott Benzel, for a lecture included in the the Paul Brach Visiting Artist Lecture Series.

This poster is inspired by Benzel’s most recent exhibition, featuring an industrial, nonsensical style. The idea of volume dials being a central part of the composition was the overarching premise from the very beginning – I thought of it as a catalyst to represent Benzel’s artistry.

Rory Glassford Grad Recital2025

A poster for Jazz Guitarist Rory Glassford, created with the intention of representing the wide expanse of the mesas in Colorado, where Glassford is from originally.

Using a photo I took in Joshua Tree, I cut out shapes with the rocky texture to create a new composition. The window was added to symbolize a frame to a memory, something you can see but can’t access.

Glaser &
Klincewicz2024

As a way of understanding the inherent qualities of our favorite design, our class was tasked with making a poster highlighting the connection between two designers: one historical and one contemporary.

I chose Milton Glaser and Julian Klincewicz, designers that I look up to in two distinct ways. I chose to use similar imagemaking methods that each designer would frequent (hand inked illustrations & textured photos), resulting in a colorful, two-sided harmony. My favorite part of this project was illustrating the central asset, as I rarely use ink to complete an illustration and I had fun introducing something new to complete my illustrations, and I thought there was something interesting in merging illustration with my usual photographic design.

Mid-Res Recital 2024

A poster designed for Rory Glassford and Hugo Tanov, two talented jazz musicians.

Both artists hold a value in timeless work and creations using analog methods, which I exemplified visually with classic typefaces, abstract form, and a roughened texture akin to a screenprinted poster.
